will my blazer haul it?
my jimmys already got a AAL a real hitch and has 3:43s and trailer brakes if i keep it
i have a 89 XJ and i plan on getting a car hauler so lets say all together the load weighs 4500
if i install the airlift bags to help with the load do you guys think my jimmy should be able to haul it without working the crap out of it?

The biggest issue is going to be the tranny...not the gears
Depending on where you drive it (hills and what not), you'll probably want to keep it in D3 instead of D. Overdrive is not good for towing. Also if you're going to be towing it alot, you might consider a tranny temp gauge as a good upgrade.

yeah but if he has lower gears (1:x) it will put more strain on the tranney. thats why he's talking about gears. and he has a 4.3 so it's the 4L60E. he should be good to go, but a tranney temp guage is not a bad idea. good though wolf pack
3.73:1 gears would help for sure, but 3.42:1 gears should not cause too many problems with the cooler and trans temp gauge.
The only reason not to tow in OD would be if the transmission was hunting or the torque converter was staying unlocked a lot. A transmission temp gauge will tell you more than enough information to allow you to make informed decisions about what gear to run in.

Also, you don't want to push the weight ratio between your truck and the trailer without trailer brakes.
Nothin' like slamming on your brakes and having the trailer keep going on. [:-]
