Default Headlights Flickering while driving

I've noticed that my headlights flicker while I'm driving, almost a strobe like effect. It really only happens on low beam. I turned off everything, radio, heater etc to see if one of these was causing my problems, didn't help. I searched old threads but couldn't reaaly find the same issue. Has anyone experienced this problem or does anyone have this problem and what were your solutions?

Its possible that there is an intermittent loss of power to the headlights somewhere along the line... Have you checked all of the plugs?

A power draw problem would cause them to dim a bit, but not to shut off completely.

Do you know for sure that they're flickering? The reason I ask is my headlights are loose and when I travel over the smallest deviation on a smooth road, they shake. It almost looks like a strobe light like you're saying. I'm sure it's annoying to the drivers in front of me, too. Maybe you could have someone drive your truck while you watch to see if they actually turn off or if they're just shaking in the headlight housing. Food for thought...

Well, in the old days, it would probably be your dimmer switch(on the floor). Well, my friend was having the same trouble with his Escort, a couple of weeks ago. I told him about the old days, and that maybe he should look into the dimmer, on the column. He sprayed some contact cleaner into the mechanism, and it fixed it! Lights are now staying on.
It might be worth a try...
