today i was driveing and my heat went from normal to smelling like coolant. the temp hasint moved theres no leaking in the motor so im not sure what happen. when i first bought the truck there was no heat to i took it to chevy and they said my heater core was pluged and the radiator. so they flushed it all and its been great. last week i started hearing sounds like water running in the dash and i wasint sure what that was.

Seems like the core might have blown a hole. Is there any foggin to the window when its on defrost?

yea my front window was all fog down on the bottom. this pisses me off. if they had changed it the first time it was there when i told them to none of this would have happen. looks like its going back to the dealer on monday. lucky the warrenty has another 3k miles left.

yea i kinda thought so to. so i went to advance auto and picked up a heater core and i got the dash out today tomorrow ill work on takeing the old heater core out and puting in the new one
one good thing came out of this. i wanted to put the front stock fog lamps on and so i went and got the lights i got the new switch for the inside and i was going to run the wires. well the wires are already there. that made me happy. now all i have to go is fine the wires on the front of the truck and put ends on them. any idea where GM stuffed them.

Just a word of caution: be very careful installing the new heater core. The inlet/outlet tubes are just crimped into the core and if you tweak on the tubes any at all you'll be buying another heater core. In my opinion this is a really cheazy setup. GM should have welded the tubes to the core so that they wouldn't be damaged so easily. The next time I have to do this I'm going to have a friend weld the tubes in.

Did you plug everything back in properly? The ambient light sensor is located in the passenger side speaker grill.
