I have never had any luck with long term fixes with Stop Leak. Plus, there is a decent chance it will clog the heater core and a clogged heater core is the main cause of losing heat. I would bypass the heater core (if you can stand not having heat) before I would consider using a Stop Leak.

Bite the bullet and have the work done. I have never had any luck with any of the stop leak stuff, regardless of which system it was for.

I have not been into the dash of my 1996 or 2000, but replace the core of an '88 Jimmy. The thought of removing the dash was intimidating but decided to try it anyway.
Piece of cake. 5 large screws and the column dropped down and the passenger side of the dash swung out of the way. No wires or connectors to remove except for the glove box light.
With the newer Blazers, be sure to disable the air bags first.
Give it a shot.
