HELP! #4 fuse keeps blowing
#32
So, last night just for grins, I check to see if my fuse was still blowing, and it wasn't! The car has been sitting for a few days and i havn't touch it. The only thing thats change is it has been cold outside! Has anyone seen this before???? I know it will just blow again, so i need to find the cause!!

Here's another thought! The Dome lights should slowly dim when they go off, but they just shut off right away. I'm assuming there is a compasitor that alows for this function. Could the compasitor be somehow shorting out, and does anyone know where it's located? pics would help!!!

hmm did you ever try unplugging your remote keyless entry module? It also controls the timing on the courtesy lights. I found this out when I unplugged mine, they didn't have a delayed time off anymore. The module is also on fuse 4 (DKE). it is a small box under the drivers side dash mounted on the kick plate to the left of the steering wheel. Also when my vehicle is cool the fuse doesn't blow. I drove all day today and it didn't have a problem until this evening. I am replacing my bad Neutral safety switch tomorrow hoping it eliminates my short.

What is the Neutral saftety switch, is it easy to test, and where is it? Also another thing I noticed, is when the fuse is blown and the car is running and the head lights are on, the chimes ring like I removed the key and the lights were still on. But if I turn down the dash light dimmer the chimes stop! Is the keyless remote module easaly visible?? THANKS for all the help!!!

the keyless remote module is right below the left side of the steering wheel near the parking break pedal. you unscrew the lower cowel (trim) panel below the steering and drop it down. It is actually screwed to the cowel (trim panel). you will see the wiring harness plugged into it. The neutral safety switch is located on the side of the transmission. The shift lever goes through it. You said you already tried those in an earlier post. I would check the keyless module since your dome light isn't working right. Good luck

OK, so I think I found it!!!!!! It's a hot wire behind the Gauge cluster! The problem is it's behind the framming of the dash and is not accessable from the front! I was able to reach it with a wood stick, and wedged the stick between it and the short went away, but it's a short term fix. I need to find a way to get at it, and fix it right!! I also cant get the Gauge cluster out past the stearing wheel cover. Does anyone know how to remove the key cover, it's stopping me from removing the cover over the stearing wheel? Also does anyone know anytricks to removing the gauge cluster?????
