HELP! Alternator not charging...
So I took my instrument cluster out to change the CEL bulb, and now the oil pressure guage is pegged and the alternator is not charging.
I purchased a new alternator to no avail, took it bak and had it tested, it was fine. I had my old alternator tested, it was fine. With the engine running, there is no voltage coming off the alt. positive stud on the back, thats with the pos. wires disconnectedall the bolts are tight and grounded good. Same with the new alt. with the positive wires connected, it just reads the bat voltage, usually 11.8 or however much charge the bat has left. Why is it not putting out voltage but checks out good at the parts store? Would it have something to do with the instument cluster?
If somebody has an idea or can help me out I'd appreciate it I need my truck back on the road asap. I am at a freinds on the internet, and i'll be working on it today and cant get back on here so just give me a call if youve got an idea -540-514-9282. Thanks guys.

RE: HELP! Alternator not charging...
Nevermind I figured it out. I took the cluster back out, the plastic ribbon with the electrical contacts was kinked a bit, just straightened it out, and it fixed both issues.
