1999 Blazer LT, 4,3L.

Looking some help or info. Today while driveing aprox 70 km/h or under My Blazer died on Me. First came on the Battery light, then the RPM`s and oil pressure cauges drop simultaneously to 0 but the engine was running and the motor had very little power. So I desided to pull over and tried to restart the car, but no luck. It wont start now.

At first I thought some electrical issue or the generator. But why the loss of power and the gauges needle`s dropped like that?

Now My car is on the side of the road and I need it to be towed. Not shure about pulling it with another car because the transmission is automatic. Some help about towing is needed allso. Pulling or trailer??

 

Sounds like an electrical issue. I would start by getting the battery and alternator tested. you gauges may have died due to lack of power.

and yes it could be the generator a.k.a alternator.
My Blazer allso hesitates to go gear up at 60-70 km/h.

 

anybody knows what kind of alternator do I need for Chevrolet Blazer LT 1999, 4,3L Vortec, 4AWD, 4-door?

I was asked if You want 100 amp or 145 amp (If I was palaying Sherlock on prices)? Did`nt know how to answer that :P

 

Yes, but do You know why the car suddenly had no strength?

First came on the Battery light, then next the gauges dropped after 2-3 seconds. I taped the gas pedal very lightly and no change on the RPM`s. I turned the car off and could not restart it again.

 

I didn't know that 145 amp was an option with the factory style. I upgraded to a DR44G out of a 2005 Silverado.

 

Soo.. it`s 100amp then?

 

The standard alternator is 100 - 105 amps. Oddly enough Rockauto lists the DR44G as an option for my 2000. However, they do not mention that a DR44G (145 amps) requires a 1" longer belt.
