Default help guys clicking sound

hey guys i have been looking around your great site the last few weeks an today i need some help . i did do a search before i posted but non of them sound like my problem . i just picked up a 00 2wd jimmy an all has been well untill today . me an the wife were driving down the highway at about 65 when we started to hear a clicking sound " sound like a relay or your turn signal flasher when you have them on " it sounds like is coming from the passenger side kick pannel . any of you have an idea on what it could be or a sarting point on where i can start .

when i did some looking all i could find was info on 4wd trucks having a control mod for the transfer case that makes a clicking sound .

thanks guys an gals .

does this clicking happen when you mess with the turn signal switch? does the clicking just randomly click and/or does it click super fast? the blinker relay is behind the glove box on the right hand side. if its still original it will be zip tied in. i changed mine and it did not fix the problem. ended up finding out the random clicking from the relay was due to a short in the blinker multi switch that operated the cruise/wipers/blinkers/hazards. found that problem when out of nowhere i saw it start smoking and turning red at the hazard switch. whole switch had a short. used switch cost me $50 and it is a pain in the *** to put it in. just make sure if you do deside to put on in, have long extensions handy. you will also have to drop the steering colum to get to the shifter lock wire being the assembly comes with that wire also.

I have a similar problem to this one... while I was taking a back road to the shop (a somewhat bumpy dirt road) it suddenly stopped, and it also stops whenever I press the brake pedal.. and I was then doing it intermittently on the drive home. I'm guessing some sort of short, especially since I have an aftermarket remote start system on my truck... no ideas where to start to look though

Default Random Clinking when key turned on or off

Our 1993 Blazer has the same issue. We replaced the steering column with a rebuilt one with no luck. Removed the glove box and the noise appears to be coming from the black box below the ecm unit.

When I hear a fast clicking sound all of a sudden I check my tires for rocks.
Is it consistant with speed IE: it goes up & down as you speed up or slow down?
I'd start by looking for a vacuum hose that is buggered up, weathered etc that leads to the area by or under the battery. Under there is the actuator for the 4wd. If you have a leak (& crappy gas mileage) that could be the cause.
How are the HVAC controls - everything work as it should or are things really slow or only in a vent or on foot? Or can you change them from vents to floor only or defrost easily & they respond?
It could be a pebble or something in the ABS sensor that got flung up.
