HELP I am running out of time
#1
Hey, just had my blazer inspected for the second time today and it failed for idle carbon emissions again. The problem is that i am going away for the week and need to move back to Connecticut on Saturday.
On Friday it failed with 367ppm when it has to be under 220ppm. So i put Chevron Techron Concentrate and Shell V-Power gas in to try and clean up the system. Got tested again today and now it read 536ppm. Anyone know what i can do? Is it because i am still burning off the Chevron cleaner? Thats the only reason i can think it would go up so drastically. It passes everything else fine even the running emissions. Maybe bad sensor somewhere?
Any suggestions and help would be extremely helpful. I come home Thursday and have to pass it on Friday.

And EXERCISE that engine a few miles before you go in. "Blow the carbon out" isnt just an old timey euphemism.

How old is the catalytic converter? If it passes when the engine is at higher rpm and the exhaust is hotter, that would be something to suspect since the cat may not be performing optimally.

If the cat isnt performing correctly, wouldnt the 4th O2 sensor detect it and set a code? Just wondering.

Just had the oil changed, maybe 300 miles ago, when tested was running Shell V-Power gas, and drove the highway to get there, and gave it some revving in the line pre-test. No check engine lights or anything. Do you think its worth a shot to switch out an O2 sensor or two? Kinda down to last minute, looking like I'll have it for a month at school without a valid inspection....

Dont start guessing. Youre just wasting your money.
