Default Help!!New Fuel Pump..now misfire Cycinder 6 and 1

Is it possible that either the old pump or new pump messed up the spider injectors with gunk. The truck drove fine (no misfires) before the pump. Now after pump install truck misfires cylinder 6 and 1. Checked plugs and they have fuel on them. Did compression test and they were both at 150. I am being told by mech. that is most likely spider injectors. We tried new wires and new cap. Truck had tuneup in February as well.

It should not have been possible for junk to get into the system. The fuel filter would stop that from happening. That is unless you changed the filter and somehow got crap into the line from the filter to the engine.

Have you verified fuel pressure while running? What is the freeze frame data from the PCM when the misfire occurs? How do the plugs look on the other 4 cylinders? Have you confirmed spark on those two cylinders?

We tried new plugs on the cyls. Also fuel filter was changed at time of pump. He is installing spider injectors now to see what happens. I told him if he installs spider injectors and the problem is not fixed I am not paying him. I already paid $600 for pump install and everything was fine.

He sprayed the wires, replaced cyl 6 and 1 with new wires.

I called a dealer and they said it is possible that crap got in the system from the pump exchange and that infact could keep in the injector open and dump fuel. I am at a loss and do not want to get taken deep for another $700 to do this spider injector. I also fear driving it 25 miles to my reg. mech. I i will prob ruin the cat.

The mech claims fuel pressure is normal from pump. I wonder if the pump could be defective.

I am sorry for your troubles, but without specific values for certain things... It is awful hard to help.

I am also sorry that your "mechanic" is just throwing parts at your truck instead of properly diagnosing the problem.
