If it's a non servicable part, what would you put there if you bought an aftermarket tank? It's a breather which is part of the evaporative emissions system correct?
I'll talk with the dealer tomorrow (thursday).

RE: HELP! No start this morning, have done some tests...
all I know is I was working on a 2000 and checked with my local gm dealer and that evap vent valve IS not available by itself. Tank complete only-which at that point went to a local yard(customer job-I ate). Now I fixed(?) the tank and have another 2000 Blazer in stock-ours, for our lot, I figure to try it on that to see if it is indeed 'fixed'. I picked this other Blazer to try it on because it has a jumpy gas gauge(and a 2000) and I hope to kill two birds with one stone. Haven't had time to get it in the shop yet. BTW-your truck-is it a 98-reason I ask is I thought that in 98 they were metal-yours appears to be plastic. In either case, I don't think it's servicable but keep me(us all) informed and I hope today goes better than yesterday! JP

RE: HELP! No start this morning, have done some tests...
The guy had me all excited for a second and said they had a part, then he was like "ohh, that's for a different tank" and that part is officially part of the tank, and my discount on a new tank was $398.
So I will be fixing it. I'm almost positive I can drill it out some and fit a vacuum line adapter piece in there, put glue on the piece so when I slide it in there any excess glue comes out the front and doesn't get pushed in blocking the breather hole. It's a one shot deal.
Leave it to GM to F that up! I'm not surpised. (Been a GM family my whole life, dad worked for them one of the main interior/instrument panel designers, so I've seen a lot.)
