Help! Water in Gas Tank
Hi there,My son suspects there is water in his gas tank from fuel added yesterday. It is a 99 Blazer. The truck will not turn over and have tried to add one bottle of gas line antifreeze but still won't start. The tank is currently appx. 3/4 full and am thinking we need to drain? Any suggestions on how to do this or to remedy this problem? Any help is appreciated. Thanks!
Did the problem only show after he put the gas in and was it from a station he does not normally use? If you are confident it has water in the tank, I'm afraid only dropping and draining, followed by a 'gas dryer' additive treatment will remove it. For help with the dropping, look below in 'Related Threads' or use 'search' for 'gas tank removal', 'drop tank', etc.
Hi, thanks for your reply. Yes, the problem occurred after refueling, however gas used was from a sliptank, not from normal gas station,so am unsure amount of water. We are now assuming that there was water mixed in. Trying to find acost-effective solution and and wondering if we are able to drain fuel tank ourselves?
If it's a 4dr blazer it will be a major pain to drop the tank. Also you said the engine won't turn over, I assume you meant that the engine will turn over but it won't fire..correct?
Have you checked to see if the fuel pump relay is blown? Look in the glove box and pull the fuel pump relay and switch the horn relay to see if your pump is working.
