High level stopping light / Brake light
Hi All, Since the weathers good I'm getting jobs done, latest query is the high level stopping light. Mines not working, now I've not checked voltages etc. yet, but it looks to be full of mositure, sealed and consisting of about 12 LEDs.
Can it be openend, repaired or only replaced ? Any ideas on how much a replacement is, or if a pattern part is available ?
There are strange electrical problems also, the fuel gauge always reads empty, the oil presssure gauge always reads, even with the key out and the tccm has a mind of its own. None are major problems, but is there likely to be some common cause ?

My daughter's 1998 is similiar, keeps blowing fuse 15 (4wd) which also causes the battery light to come on and fuel gauge to show empty. I can't find the short and thought it was the 4wd switch but did blow again after replacing the switch.
Also, her high brake light is out as well, it does have voltage going to it but I haven't found a replacement.

Re: Hi-Mount stop lamp
Good Day! Please note that this unit is plastic and a very inferior type. The lamps inside are LED.Problems stem from not only the mounting bolts, but also from the fact that most of these units are damaged when loading cargo atop. Replacement is quite simple, replacement units are not so readily available for cheap, espescially in the UK! Moisture is the culprit. When replacing the unit, seal the mounting bolts with silicone and do what I did:installed Kevlar on top of it to prevent further
damage from cargo lading. Good Luck!
