Default Hood Release Cable Help

I have to stretch the coil spring every couple times to get the hood to release - after banging on it to open. Is the a fix or any help on replacing the cable

I did white lithium aerosol grease on my primary and secondary latches. I also hit each actual hood hinge with the same stuff. it seemed to free up as if it was a brand new cable.

Every gm truck I've ever had, you would have to hit the hood after pulling the release cable.

Take an oil pump can and oil it and you won't have to hit your hood anymore......works almost overtime.....I hardly never install hood cables....Jerry

Default New hood release cable problems

I installed a new hood release cable 2 days ago, along with a new latch, now the cable is so tight when I pull it that I'm afraid I'll snap the plastic handle, I had thought the latch needed lubed so I disconnected the cable from the latch and while it was disconnected I went to pull the handle and it's still super tight, I don't k ow what could be wrong.

Either a bad cable or there is a kink in it somewhere. If you still have the old cable, toss that in and see how it goes.
