Tried to open hood to jump start blazer (2001 4 x 4) and nothing. Pressed up and down on hood to see if it didn't set all the way, nothing. There is pressure on the cable when i pull the hood release but it doesn't engage the release mechanism at all. Stumped, any ideas how to get the hood open?

 

Have someone pull the release while you are pushing/pulling up and down on the hood. If you have already tried that....might be time to break out the prybar.
