Default hose fitting on top/front of fuel tank

please help,

I finally got new fuel pump in the tank of my 96 blazer and a plastic hose fitting at the front top of the tank is broken.

The tank is along the drivers side basically under the back seat. 4 door / 4 wd vehicle.

Auto Zone does not know what it is to look it up and I can't get it out to take in.

The fitting is brown plastic and about 1 inch square with circlur flange and a circular spring between it and the tank. It used to have a hose barb on it.
It will rotate 90 degrees in one direction but not lift out easily. I hate to break things further.

What is it and how do I get it out.

Thought I could use new one to help in getting old broken piece out.

ratwell,
I know the hose your talking about, unfortunately the one on my '00 was set up different. Quick clip fitting and rubber hose.

Have you been able to trace it to find out what the other end is attached too?

I don't know where the hose ends up in the long term, but the hose is about 5" long and goes to a clamp on barb fitting along the chaisis rail.

I need to know what the fitting is called so that I can get a new one and need to know how to remove it from the tank.

It has a plastic slip on barb and a squeeze on clamp. Hose looks like it is about 3/16 in diameter and plastic barb or tip is broken off inside.

Any help would be appreciated.

OK the answer is.
It is a fuel tank vent valve- has a one way float ball in the tank end. On some other tanks it is combined at the fuel pump insert area. Part number 15640448 at $25.43 from Chevy dealer.

Bayonet type mount with o-ring and circular spring-steel spring. Push down (wide vice-grips work well) and twist left to remove.
Hose is way to short to let the tank down and then disconnect. Even if you knew it was there or could see it from underneath. Will probably put longer hose on it during install.

yea, only way I knew I had one on my '00 was the tank wouldn't come down. Fortunately I was looking for extra hoses when I dropped it.

So... how did you get it back on? I went through the same exact thing, nobody knew what the piece was, couldn't locate one. My blazer is sitting out in the driveway right now and I'm trying to get the stupid hose back on.
I had the same idea, to get a longer hose. I think that I'll go do that right now, but I'm still curious how yours turned out ratwell.
