Changed the fuel pump on my truck and now it cranks over a few times before starting. I then changed the fuel filter and that helped a little. I bought a fuel pressure regulator and i went to change it to find out it is under the intake. I dont like working in the engine. I have the haynes book for it, and to be honest it sucks. I was wondering if anyone had a website to show me how to get it done! Thanks in advance!

 

Have you verified that the FPR is the source of your problem? The 96+ Fuel System Diagnosis post will help you figure out the problem if it is fuel system related.

Did the condition just start when you replaced the fuel pump?

Sorry for asking more questions than I answered (particularly because I did not answer your question), but I want to make sure that you are doing the right repair and not just wasting time and money.

 

Yea it didnt start happening until after i changed the fuel pump. It also crossed my mind that the fuel pump might not be putting out real good pressure. I bought it off ebay and who knows the place i got it from might be a place that gets fuel pumps that didnt pass the test.
