Repairing Fuel Pressure Regulator on 1995 Chevy Blazer
I have just replaced the EGR valve and which I thought was the source of issues that I was having. Car just stopped accelerating and on putting my foot down it was going a max of about 10 mph.
I brought it to the garage and mechanic has told me the fuel pressure regulator needs replaced and explained that there was most likely fuel leaking into the manifold.
( I'm really not knowledgeable about these issues so require a wee bit of help)
So the mechanic tells me that the job is a 600-700 dollar job to repair. I went online and looked about a bit and most people who've had this problem seem to state that a new fuel pressure regulator costs between 50-110 bucks and no where near the price the mechanic quoted.
I need to know really if i'm being ripped off or is it such a huge job that the mechanic is right is charging this amount.
I dunno whether people look at me as a newly arrived irish immigrant female to this area and are just trying it on or whether i should trust what they are quoting and telling me.
I would appreciate any information at all concerning the issues raised in this post.

RE: Repairing Fuel Pressure Regulator on 1995 Chevy Blazer
The fuel pressure regulator is a $45 part at AutoZone and the like, the upper intake gasket is about $15. The labor should be no more than $200, probably more like $150 to put it in. I think it took me a total of an hour and 15 minutes to do it.
So yes, I'd find a second opinion/mechanic if I could.

or just use this https://blazerforum.com/m_7118/mpage...or/tm.htm#7118 and do it yourself it really is a simple repair there is no reason to pay $600-700 for it that mechanic is just trying to rip you off big time id avoid them at all costs in the future.
