Default How to get inside the windshield defrost vent?

I just bought a used 2001 Blazer and the grate over the defrost vent was missing. While doing some repairs a set of keys slid into the defrost vent and out of sight. How do I get into the vent? I'm not dense but if someone can give step by step instructions, I'd appreciate it.

I would recommend attempting to retrieve the keys using a mechanics magnet rather than pulling the dash to get at the defrost duct. Pulling the dash isn't really complex, but it is VERY time consuming.

Can you see it with a small mechanics mirror? If so, try and use a (small clawed) magnetic retriever.
