Default How many bolts........

hold the remote oil filter/oil cooler housing in position. I removed the 2 visible bolts at the front but it doesn t move at all, so there must be others which i can t see, or even feel.
Got a small oil leak where the radiator pipe meets the unit so i d like to remove the unit and seal the leak. But how to get the thing out, anyone done this, my manual says nothing about this thing. 1999 4wd 4.3 blazer.

S ENGINE OIL FILTER (LU3/4.3X, ZR2); T ENGINE OIL FILTER (L35/4.3W); T ENGINE OIL FILTER (LB4/4.3Z, L35/4.3W); T ENGINE OIL FILTER (LF6/4.3X, L35/4.3W); T ENGINE OIL FILTER (LU3/4.3X); | Nalley Buick GMC Brunswick This might be it. The site is set for mine. Re-set it for yours, they have good diagrams.

Thanks for the reply. Yes the site and diagrams are very clear, but i cannot find anything that looks like what is installed in my blazer. It is factory fit im sure of, and has hoses that come from the radiator that cools the engine oil and tranny oil. If i knew how to post photos of this thing i would, but i m a dinosaur. Guess i ll just have to try fix the leak with the unit in situ.

should be 2 shoulder bolts holding the bracket to the core support. if you took these 5-6inch long bolts completely out the bracket should slide off pulling down. it may be rusted to the core support

You don't need to remove the remote oil filter mount from the vehicle to replace the gasket. One bolt in each oil line fitting. Most auto parts stores stock the gaskets. Torque the bolt to 26 ft lb.... Don't over torque the bolts.

Fixed the oil leak with the adapter in place.
Had to drain the coolant from the system to seal the place where it was leaking. What a messy job.
Why is my REMOTE OIL ADAPTER/COOLER completely different to anything listed on the GM parts dealer pages?

Hard to say if your not the original owner. Front end hit and they put it back together with what they had?
