Default How to read-understand scan tool data?

OK, as the title says, I'd like to learn how to read, understand, and utilize the data gathered by the scan tool.

A little history: I bought an old Matco Determinator with a lot of cables and accessories quite a while back at a yard sale held by a mechanic's widow.
It came with no manuals or other paperwork, so I was on my own to learn how to use it.
I knew I was taking a chance, but the price was right.
It "seems" to work properly, but I don't really understand how to interpret most of the info it's giving me.
So, is there a good website that breaks down most of the data available to help a novice like myself to understand what I'm looking at?
I realize that it takes years of training to become a "real" mechanic, and I also realize that a scan tool and a book won't instantly make me a mechanic, but I'd really like to get an understanding of what I'm looking at when I'm reading all that live data.
Thanks a lot for any and all advice.
