How to remove rust in cylinder
Head cracked on my 95 4.3 and had heads removed and reworked. It took awhile and now surface rust is in the back 2 cylinders.
What would be the best way to remove it without scoring the cylinder walls?
Liquid rust remover has not removed it all. It is pretty heavy right at the top where the piston and cylinder meet.
Thanks in advance for any suggestions.

I wouldn't worry too much about a little surface rust...it will clean itself. You can take a clean rag with a little engine oil on it an wipe off most of it. You should, however, check your cylinders for wear with an inside caliper. It doesn't look like you planned a rebuild but it's something you might as well check whiile the heads are off.

Or if you don't have the pistons out you can pour some marvel mystery oil in there....or PB blaster....or even WD-40..... once you have the rust out you could smear a little lithium or bearing grease (use very little) on the walls to keep it from rusting again untill reassembly.
I 2nd marvel mystery oil if the engine is assembled I have used this to free up rings that rusted to the cylinder walls in salvage motors and would not turn over.
If you are rebuilding I would use a ball hone.
