If the FPR is leaking you can smell it or see a clean spot inside the manifold where the gas has washed it clean. I don't know what year your truck is but on my 95 there's a sensor in the top of the upper intake you can pull out and shine a flashlight in and see if there's any washing. It's a lot easier than pulling the intake lol. If you hear a zapping when it's misfiring it sounds like a plug wire is grounding out or has slipped off the plug.

@ laidblazer

What were your results after replacing the Fuel Pressure Reg?

I replaced my plug wires which took care of the misfiring and zapping noise. I'm still having some hesitation and sluggishness when accelerating, and the horrible fuel mileage so I guess I'll have to troubleshoot the fuel system... I did find an exhaust leak where the cat bolts on. Looks like a gasket is blown where the two pipes connect. That is probably what is throwing the P0420 codes (catalyst deficiency) I've been getting for months.

Have you replaced your catalytic converter yet? I recall from your first post that you planned on doing that. That would certainly cause hesistation and poor fuel economy.

I haven't done it yet, but I do plan to. I'll probably look into a high flow cat-back system to add a little noise...

i changed my cat and its getting a lil better gas milage and alot !!! but i still have the miss. i'm gonna do plugs and wires this weekend and hopefully that will be the last of my troubles.

@cody, when i replaced it, i started getting a lil better gas milage, but my biggest improvment was in my starting.no more having to stand on the gas to get it started.
