Default Ign switch, maybe?

Hey guys, I have a 2001 LS 4X4, 4 DR. Problem I'm having lately is truck starts fine in the morning. If I stop somewhere real quick and try to restart, sometimes it starts right up and sometimes I have to turn the key quite a few times to get it to start. I don't think it's from a hot starter bc sometimes it acts fine all day and sometimes it gives me problems. Nothing consistent. Any help would be appreciated...

Does it usually do that on hot days? If so it sounds like the ignition switch is getting hot. Which happens when they get older. Mine does it to sometimes

I live in New Orleans so yeah, it's hot. But even when it's cooler outside, like lately, because of the rain it still happens.

Check out the ignition switch link in my signature below. It'll give you the wiring diagrams necessary to ohm out the various circuits in the ignition switch. You shouldn't see much resistance on any of these circuits. If you do, then the contacts are worn/burnt and the switch should be replaced. A few members have attempted to clean the switch, but I have only ever heard back from one that did so successfully so try it at your own risk. It's worth a shot if you have confirmed that it is at fault, but try to have another one handy just in case.
