My 95 Blazer has a intermittent snapping sound coming from either the ignition coil or it could be the distributor. no starting problems but idles kind of ruff I checked for arching but found none. If I rev it up to 450k it stops for a while, then while driving you can tell its missing. Right now (Christmas) money is to tight to change it all, and don't want to change the ignition coil to find out its the distributor. I know the whole thing should come in under $125. bucks including wires, but like I said money is an issue. can anyone pinpoint from the description, what it may actually be. Thanks in advance.

Sounds like a minor tune & fly thru the holidays-then major tune when the coin comes up!

Have you tried waiting until it's dark and watching the engine while running? Just look for the area that has a mini strobe light and you've found the problem. Or it could be something different all together. Some parts stores offer free testing of ignition modules so make sure to have that tested as well. Be ready for them to roll their eyes because I think this one is a PITA that requires a bunch of clip leads to test.

If you can hear it snappin you will almost always see it at night. Take the engine compartment light out. Have heard of people giving it a light mist but don't know if I would try it if I had someplace to go in the morn. Good luck.

Sheath on #4 was the problem, it had slipped and the wire was laying against the engine. I replaced the ignition coil anyway and cleaned all the connections at the cap that's when I found the problem. I had to remove the
