Inginition/stalling issues
I have a 2001 Blazer that has two problems that I believe are related.
Problem #1: Ignition not working
Rarely happens, but occasionally the vehicle will not start, not click as if the starter was not turning over, nothing. No lights, stereo, etc. When I jiggle the battery cable I get electrical internally (dashboard, radio, etc.) but it will not turn over or even click like the starter is being engaged and after turning the key, I lose the internal power again. After a number of tries the vehicle eventually starts.
Problem #2: Low idle/stalling
Again, occasionally when I start the vehicle it idles low and will at times stall -- even while driving. When the vehicle is in this low idle mode I have to drive while applying the gas at stop lights to keep the the vehicle from stalling. I have found that turning the car off and on again a number of times will at some point get me a normal idle. I have also revved the engine long enough to get a higher idle but this works less often than the first solution.
I've searched this database and others and have seen similar posts, but no solutions that seem to make sense (checking the ignition, trouble with pass system keys, fuel pumps etc.).
Has anyone seen a solution posted here or elsewhere that solves these two problems? Do you believe they are related? Not being a "car" guy, I have no idea, but it feels like it's electrical -- but don't let that lead you to a solution.
Thanks in advance.
Chris

Definately sounds like an ignition switch problem or a loose connection at the plug ..did you pull the panel off under the column and check for a loose connection? it may be that simple.

I had some of the same issues with my 95. It turned out to be a corroded battery terminal. Remove the battery cables from the battery and clean them with a small stiff metal brush buy 2 new battery bolts (cheap) and reconnect. worked like new for me
