Default Intake full of grit

I pulled the intake of to change the fpr. It is really oily, and has a bunch of real fine grit,,,smaller than sand all over. Even down in the bores going to the valves.

Im scared of it getting down into the pistons. Im going to wipe out as much as I can with a paper towl soaked with carb cleaner. Ill repeat this step a bunch. Then Ill shop vac the rest. My friend said it had to come in through the air filter or pcv valve. The pcv valve was dripping oil when I pulled it. Ill be replacing that of coarse. Im going to go check the air filter that I changed too.

Anyone ever have this problem. Is this normal. Am I over reacting. Any advice. Thanks.

Default RE: Intake full of grit

Probably carbon. If the engine has been running rich for a long time, it can do this.
