When I got my oil changed the guy said I need to get my intake manifold replaced. How involved of a repair is this? If I can't do it myself, how much do you think this kind of repair will cost? I drive a 2004 Blazer ZR2 4x4.
Thanks for any input or advice you have!

Oh man!!! You are in for a world of hurt! Naw, just kidding it ain't that bad. More than likely you have a lower intake gasket leaking, which is a 6 hr job if you do it right. They might be scaring you into it was well. How many miles on it?

It isn't a bad job at all. Run a search as there is a link out there to a good how-to article. Google '4.3L Intake Manifold Gasket Replacement' and it should turn up.
Also, do yourself a favor and get the updated Felpro gasket set with the metal carrier on the LIM gaskets!

OK, well I looked over the 'how-to' page. This is a bit more involved than I'm ready to jump into. I'll have to find a shop that can do it for a reasonable price. Thanks again for your help guys.

I'm an old Grandpa without much automotive experience and I did it. The parts are about $30.00 plus new oil, filter, coolant, and cleaners. I did have to buy a inch lb torque wrench which was $20. It looks complicated but if you put labels on all the connections it makes it easier getting things back together. The hardest physical part for me was getting at the distributor. If you have an independet garage do it I'd guess it's in the $500-$600 range...mostly labor.

It's def something you will want to take in. My shop can do them in about 4 hrs and we charge about 500 for them. I would recommend doing it yourself if you plan on continuing working on it yourself because you have to invest some money in tools. Working on it on the ground can be a pain too. If you haven't taken her to a shop yet and plan on doing it urself let me know if you need any guidance. When I did mine I did the spider injector and valve cover gaskets as well. But thats 300 more bucks in parts.

I did mine myself. It is time consuming but not difficult if you mark everything. They cover it in a Chilton manual pretty well if you are mechanically inclined. Im with jek813 though and would go ahead with the spider injector upgrade if you have poppets... Seems to be worth the extra expense and you would still come out ahead if you do it yourself.
