Default interior lights

Hi whats up i'm new to the site i'm having a problem with my interior lights staying on they dim when everything is closed but don't go off with the dome overide inor outyou can hear a clicking noise when you push in the rear hatch glass switch in and out with the overide button in the out poss but not when the overide button is in so i pulled the fuse for the lights and i did some searching on here for other post like this and tired the door pin switch removal thing but still nothing maybe i did it wrong when i first got the truck they didn't work so the first thing i did was check the fuse and found a blowen one replaced it and they all worked then i did the door pins on the driver side and been having the same problem since i've replaced the headlight switch/overide thinking that was the problem but that didn't help someone please help

I'm sorry to say this, but it sounds like you have a short somewhere in the circuit for the interior lighting. If i get a chance, I will try to get some schematics up to give you a rough idea of what/where you need to check, but that is what it sounds like to me.

Do the lights turn off when you disconnect the headlight switch?

well that didn't work so i tried the old headlight switch that was a dead end also so i took all the switches out again and nothing but when i put the rear hatch switch back in i could here the clickingnoise and when i put the newer headlight switch back in i was pushing the over ride button in and out and could hear the clicking noise come from behide the dash is there a headlight relay that could be bad or something like that the headlights work fine i'm not saying that but just tring to figure it out i know it might sound stupid i just like having working interior lights

Ok, so what happened when you disconnected the headlight switch? If the lights did not go out, then you definitely have a short somewhere in the system. Now, you mention a click in the dash... Well, I do not have access to the appropriate wiring diagrams at work, but if I have some time tonight, I can try to dig up the diagram for the interior lights on your truck to see if there is a relay that may be just burnt out.

To help me out a bit though, I am assuming that you have a '98 Blazer from your screenname. Is that the case and if so, what other options/features does your truck have that may affect this situation?

nothing happend the lights were still on when i disconnected it they didn't dim or go out 98 blazer two doorLS 4x4 nothing done just a stock blazer no fog lights it does have daytime running lights that work fine and the automatic headlights that come on when it gets dark witch also works pwr windows pwr door locks everything works except the interior lights thank you for all the help your giving me. one thing that did notice is with the driver side door open and pushing the dimmer over ride button in and out you hear the clicking noise but you close the door and push the over ride button and no clicking so i opened the door again and held the door switch pin on the side of the dash in and still get the clicking close the door and no clicking this is starting to really confuse me
