Buy Interdynamics Oil and Fuel Systems UV Dye (1 oz.) 374CS at Advance Auto Parts
You can get a uv flashlight much cheaper on ebay then advanced sells them or a kit that comes with dye, glasses and light.
Wash the motor good with engine bright, run it for a little then shut down and start looking.
Stuff works great!

Your filter im assuming is mounted remotely,(only true in 4wd), this being the case save your self a huge head ache and repkace all 4 of the lines. they will come in 2 sets, one from block to remote and back and the other from the cooler to remote and back. The pair will run you about $70 at advance,
One a side note, was the LIM gasket done? if so is there any way for you to confirm the RTV was applied to both walls in front and behind the valley? without this RTV the intake WILL leak.
Good luck and report back

yea the lower and upper intake gaskets were replaced. as for the rtv i didnt do it, my "mechanic" did. but when i had another guy check he said the LIM and distributor were dry. so taking his word im assuming the first guy did the gaskets right. but then again you know where assuming gets you. as for the lines should i buy the OEMs or is there a better aftermarket brand out there
If the LIM was leaking you would NOT see oil on or on the base of the dizzy. the LIM is below the dizzy.
You can certainly shop around for after market cooler lines....the ones I was reffering to are OEM, if you really wanted to go over the top you could alwas install braided hose but that is BIG bucks,

Quik thought....the only way to know for certain the work is down right is to do it yourself, any option to indicate if the RTV was applied or not, remove the intake down to the LIM and see for yourself, this of course would mean re doing the job, a second option would be to removing the passenger side front tire and wheel well (not the fender) and inspect the rear of the engine and front of the bell housing...if you see oil the RTV was not applied...you could also attempt to see if there is any oild on the top of the water pump although I would recommend removing the tire and wheel well if your not willing or able to pull the intake and inspect for sure
i really need to get that engine bright and spray under there. theres drips of the oil everywhere. under the oil pan, on the bell housing, the cooler hoses, i took your advice and took the wheel off and well, the LIM was dry. i tried sitting under there no luck. would using diluted simple green work to spray under the engine to clean everything up?
How many miles are on the truck? I've been through my fair share of these, and all but the most recent had leaky rear main seals that would soak the oil pan and bell housing. Pull the inspection cover on the bottom of the bell housing
If you see oil dripping out, or if it is soaked inside the bell housing, chances are your rear main is leaking. Not a job you want to undertake yourself, unless you are confident in pulling the tranny for a $20 seal.

I just hit 159k. Ill have to give it a try this afternoon or late evening hopefully when it cools down a little. The visuals do help thank you. I alsp notice the leaking doesn't usually leave spots on the road unless parked on an incline or decline
