Default key is hard to turn

i have a 97 Blazer and lately the ignition has been giving me problems. the latest one is the ignition wont go into the lock position but luckily my key is worn down enough so i can take my key out. but now it is becoming hard to turn the key to start the truck ( a lot of resistance when i turn the key) this only happens sometimes but more often than not. is the ignition module going bad and is there a temporary fix for it cause i am buying a new vehicle in about a month or so. thanks

Default RE: key is hard to turn

Sounds like the lock cylinder needs replacing....remove the steering column cover and you should find a small hole to put an allen wrench/screw driver into to push on and remove the cylinder....with the key in the cylinder....then you can install new cylinder in reverse order....
