Is it leaking?
Hey Everyone;
I've had this 97 Blazer LT for about a year and a half now. It has always been a hard starter and has just been getting worse. I moved to Edmonton, Alberta Canada, and the cold in the morning has been making almost impossible to fire. I usually just cycle the fuel pump a few times and it starts. Today it just wouldnt go(of course I had an exam at 8am), on the way home I picked up some starter fluid and the sucker fired right up. I know I should check the fuel pressure but no where here rents/lends them out and all want to sell me one for 80 bucks. I'm a student with more time than money so I did some research and figure I have a leaking injector or FPR. So I took the plenum off to have a look, reinstalled the fuel lines, and primed the system looking for leaks. I checked each injector and the FPR and couldn't see fuel leaking. Although the back drivers side all the carbon has been removed leading me to believe there is a leak somewhere. I seafoamed the engine about 2500 miles ago, could that have caused this carbon clean area or am i leaking fuel? I don't notice an overwhelming raw fuel smell, but my hydro-carbon count on my last emissions test just scapped by for a pass. The plenum is back on now and just wondering if I should convert up to the MFI spider.
The reason i believe this is causing the hard start is it only happens after it has been sitting for over and hour or so. And since cycling the pump usually works, it leads me to think the pressure is leaking out somewhere. The injection system seems to be the main culprit in the dept. Thanks for any help, I've learnt a ton on this site.
Here is a link to the image, couldn't figure out how to post it.

NoPants,
Are you certain your oxygen sensors,TPS,EGR,IAC,MAP sensors & sparksplaugs are all in good working order?
I had over a year of issues and it turned out to be the main computer was fried after spending about 3-stinking grand on a 3000grand vechile.

I just cleaned the EGR. Checked the plugs they looked fine. I've never thrown a code or anything and the car seems to run fine wants its started. Maybe I'll just bite the bullet and buy the 80 dollar fuel pressure tester and see if my assumptions are correct. I was just more wondering if the areas in my upper intake where the carbon is washed off is a sign that it is leaking back ther.
