Long crank time - Fuel pump, starter, battery all fine.
So I have an '02 Blazer 4 door that is taking a long time to start. It has never failed to start, just has to crank for a good 10-15 seconds to get it started.
Fuel pump tests at 60psi solid, battery is new, starter tests fine. I gave it a tune-up about 6 months ago, replacing the plugs, cap, and rotor (used all delco parts). Didn't get around to replacing plug wires. I have been assured that since the fuel pump and starter are fine, that no damage is being caused to the vehicle, and that it might just be a symptom of age. Is there any validity to this? Any other fixes anyone knows of? I guess it's not a big deal since it does always start, just seems wrong, and it's kind of embarassing lol.
Thanks for any help!

The only validity to hard starting being caused by age (that I can think) of is low compression.
Run a compression test on the motor. It will possibly show a problem or it can show you that the engine is good mechanically.
My first impression is that the fuel pump isnt priming before the truck establishes oil pressure. When you Key on, Do you hear the fuel pump run?

I had the same problem. I replace the Dist Cap and while doing it notice a small hose laying lose, it turn out to be the one for the 4 wheel drive valve. Had to buy a new valve the old one broke apart trying to get the rest of the hose off of it. And I notice you did not mention changing the Fuel Filter. I also did that and everything is back to the norm for the time being. So I figure between the Fuel Filter (Hadn't been change in 55K miles) and that vaccum (sp) leak, Was the cause. So now I have fix my 4x4 problem that I had for yrs and the starting problem. 2000 LT 4x4 Blazer 105K.
When you check fuel pressure, did you check it at start-up? What is the pressure after sitting for a few hours? Does the pressure come-up to 60 when the key is turned to ON or does it take 10-15 seconds? Does pressure bleed-down right away after turning the key to OFF?
