Default Looking to get a scan tool need suggestions.

Got my income tax back and would like to buy a scan tool that not only reads/resets codes but can also do crank relearn, etc. . I also heard you can buy a scanner that will also read the ABS codes. I have a nice laptop so if its USB type is fine. I tried a search on web but there's so many types that I don't want to buy junk or one that doesn't have many features. Would have to be OBD2 and work on all my vehicles.

2000 Nissan Frontier (wife)
2001 Chevy Blazer (daughter)
2003 Chevy Blazer (mine)
1996 Chevy Monte Carlo (sons)

Thanks in advance for any help/suggestions.

Joe

Search should turn up quite a few results.

I have an AutoEnginuity scan tool. You can buy the GM and Nissan enhancement packs.

Between searching these forums, the web, and swartlkks' comments about it I decided to get the Auto Enginuity scan tool. On their site it has these two choices:

PC-based ScanTool (OBD-II Hardware)
#ST05 - USB version with CAN support

PC-based ScanTool (ProLine Hardware)
#ST06 - USB version with CAN support

Whats the difference in these? Do you have to get the Proline one(#ST06) to use the enhancement packs? I'd like to buy the basic now and get the GM/Nissan enhancement packs in a month or two.

I would contact their sales support to be sure. It looks like some of the enhancement descriptions are misleading. I believe that the ProLine setup includes the newest CAN D specifications. It should be backwards compatible with the Nissan enhancements and it is required for full coverage on the GM side of things.
