Default Loose Steering

My 2000 ZR2 has loose steering. I've replace ball joints, steering box, mid section of column, and now new tires. My previous 1994 S-15 had same problem. Is this a typical problem with there? Any suggestions for a fix?

Some are more loose than others. Considering you have already replaced the steering gear box, I would assume that it was setup properly and shouldn't need adjusting. If you want to attempt it, check out this thread --> Steering Gear Just be careful. It is easy to over adjust and possibly mess up your brand new steering gear box.

How are your inner/outer tie rod ends and pitman/idler arm pivots?

Thanks. I was told that the Pitman/idler arms were OK. No mention of tie rods 'tho; will look into it.

I'd take a look at them yourself. Pull off the lower splash shield under the front of the truck and have an assistant cycle the steering side to side while you inspect each joint in the steering. The steering gear box connects to the center link via the pitman arm. The other side of the center link is supported by the idler arm. Off each end of the center link is the inner tie rod. The outer tie rod is at each steering knuckle.
