Default Loud at start up

I know I saw this on this forum before but can't find it for the life of me...

My GF asked why the fan is so loud on initial start up....I thought I knew but I failed miserably trying to explain...

I know you guys can help me out..

TIA

That is just the fan clutch engaged.
I cant remember exactly why at this point, I want to remember its because the fluid in the clutch has settled and has not fully distributed yet causing it to be engaged.

Actually, there are two reasons why the fan engages more at initial start.

If it's been sitting a long time (over night), the fluid does settle and will cause it to be a little wonky until it spins up.

If it's been sitting less than 2 hours, the air under the hood is hot, and the thermal spring on the front has expanded and cranked the clutch to fully engage. As it draws cooler air from outside in, the cooler air hits that spring, shrinks it back, and the control pin in the center rotates to engage less.
