Major Problem Stopping - Brake Line?

I was out on the trails at night with a friend, we were just talking, around BS'ing. A deer jumped out in front of me, she naturally screamed, and I in reaction slammed the brake pedal to the floor. In doing so I heard a "Pop" and now I don't have that normal resistance in my brake pedal and if I slam it to the floor it will start to slow down, but not close to what it should.
So my question is, does this sound like a problem with the brake lines? If not what? And where should I start looking for signs of damage. Also big or small job? If its something I can do myself i'll try, if not i'll seek the help of a pro.
This is a 02 GMC Sonoma Crew ZR5 (4WD) (Same mechanically as a 4Dr Jimmy or Blazer.) I ask here because I like this forum a lot better![Smile](https://blazerforum.com/forum/images/smilies/smile.gif)
Thanks in advance,
Dan

I would take a look at the front rubber lines... look around for the wet signs of brake fluid... especially on the insides of the tires.

Definitely sounds like you broke a line. You should see the leak if you look at it.

Yep, was right on, broken brake line running from the master cylinder to the power brake booster. It looks like it uses a flexible type hose on it? Any idea of where to get it and the specs? I go to advanced, and auto zone, and they keep scratching their heads.

May have to check with NAPA or dealer for something like that.

Do you mean between the master cylinder and the ABS pump? The only lines I have flexible on my 97 are at the wheels and the drop to the rear axle. Its possible those lines were changed out once by someone on yours and they didnt want to bend the line with the curly pigs tail of a run.

Nope, mine have 3 normal brake line, and under that 2 flex line. Today I replaced the broken flex line with a normal brake line I found out of a Blazer. Leave it to GM to make 100 different styles (even just between the s10s, jimmys, blazers, sonomas) with different sizes and fittings. Worked well, not as clean as I liked, but it does the job, i'll probably order that flex hose from the dealer and replace it down the road.
