metal ticking noise when accelerating

You know... i was thinking the same thing. Maybe he put in the wrong ratio. Thats the only thing i could think of.
Now if he did install the wrong ratio... that couldnt do damage if i run in 2wd only, right? It will only do damage if i run in 4wd?... which im obviously not going to even attempt.

the only thing it'll do, is throw out your speedo.
don't really know how you could explain this mistake away though, other than , "they sent me the wrong ratio".
but then again, i've always checked the math on the ring & pinion before installing it.

I'll update on monday when i go back to see this guy. I've got a feeling that ill be reporting back that its the wrong ratio that was installed. Thanks for the help.

This definitely sounds like another absent minded mechanic messing up by not checking the ratio before swapping in parts.

96 blazer 4wd...
Not sure if the weather has anything to do with it or not, but all of a sudden when i'm accelerating, i'm hearing a weird noise from under the car towards the rear. It sounds like a metal ticking sound coming from the wheels, but it's hard to tell while i'm driving. It only makes the sound when i'm accelerating.
I know it's hard to explain a sound by typing, but it sounds like metal hitting metal. Not a grinding noise like brakes hitting the rotors. The only way i can thinking of how it sounds is if you've ever watched wheel of fortune. It sounds like the ticking from the wheel as it goes around.
The only thing i can think of is bad wheel bearings, but i'm really not sure since i don't have a lift. Any ideas?

My Sonoma is making same sound

Mine was as well, but, again.. seems to have stopped.
Though, I suspect mine was not suspension/diff related, as changing engine oil and massive de-carbon efforts over the last two days (again. I learned what NOT to do) and it seems to have stopped. Engine shuts off and runs a lot smoother, too, leading me to think something was either really dirty or clogged or stopped up.
Does it sound like a card in a bike wheel?
Does it happen only when turning (usually hard) or just when getting on the throttle, like to keep a hurried pace up hills and you bury the pedal to the floor?
