Kenneth a couple thoughts, first the most glaring. Your IAT has radically changed. Did you unplug it to inspect and plug it back in or anything? That could fix a loose or bad connection (well, not necessarily fix, but I think you get me). Did you get your readings first thing in the morning while you were having your typical issue or was this after a re-start? Also, your MAF is low. On my truck IAT and MAF both share the same wiring loom, so there be a shared circuit issue going. Also, they may share the same ground location on your truck, (on mine they don't).
There is a way you can check your IAT without a DVOM if your scan tool can read the voltage from the IAT. Take a look for that data.
IMO, since you spent the money on a scan tool and the other three items I recommend that basically gives you the best foundation for diagnostics is a good DVOM (as you mentioned), an incandescent test light (not LED (for now)) and go to Alldatadiy and get a subscription for your truck. It's like $50 for a year I think, but the wire diagrams alone are a real need. If you really get into it, (like I did) and oscilloscope will be in your future. Oh, and get a headlamp to wear
Also, YouTube can be your friend. Look for "ScannerDanner", "Schrodingers Cat" and "South Main Auto". Of course not limited to them, but they are some of the best.
George, I would not be offended at all for you to jump in at anytime with your thoughts also. I remember what it was like and I wanted to hear from anyone. Come a long way since then, but those that helped me are still appreciated.
Let us know when you get your meter.
EDIT: Do you have a stock air intake on your truck or did you put a cold air intake on it or anything? Is your air filter clean?
Thanks rockp2 for the suggestions and yes, I did unplug and took out the AIT to look at it. I also noticed the difference in the reading. Also the pending po153 code I had yesterday was gone today after driving around to get the live data.
You may have corrected a bad connection on the IAT at the terminals or you may have some resistance or such in the wires. Unwrap the loom that carries both the the IAT and MAF wires and visually inspect the wires for any damage. Just that short section before it connects to the larger harness. If nothing stands out we'll want to check powers and grounds when you get your meter. (Return the wires into the loom when your done).
P.S. You may not have needed to to buy that IAT after all.
Kenneth, just wanted to point out when I say a test lamp, you just want a basic incandescent lamp like pictured. You don't need to get all fancy with it. For now stay away from "powered" lamps or LED lamps.
One extremely important thing you need are "T" pins. Can't believe I forgot to mention those. You'll be backprobing connectors for most tests with your meter. I have smaller and larger ones.
I'm still wondering about those high fuel trims and what can be causing it. If that pending code po153 I had but that cleared itself today has anything to do with it. Bad O2 sensor?
