to all people who have this problem:

how many miles are on your engine? Mine has right at 200K but I just bought it and I'm not sure if it's the original or if it's been rebuilt....that might help narrow down if its carbon build up

next time you crank it up, leave it in neutral and rev the engine and see if it misses...it seems like mine only does it in gear...... how many miles are on your engine?

I have 131500 miles on it. The missing is light and erratic when I first taking off. The missing becomes real pronounced each time the RPM's peek, right before it shifts gears. It seems that damp rainy mornings really affect the performance but I have tried to duplicate those conditions by wetting the whole engine down with a garden hose and I can't get it to miss.????

hmm...mine only misses on the initial takeoff....literally, I'll put it in drive and go, and the rpms will go to about 2k and then drop back down to almost 500 and try to shut off...then after that one little spell it'll do fine.... I've got 200k

just and idea, but maybe you have a lifter not pumping up fully, and when it gets warmed up it takes in oil and also expands and stays pumped up, i would try some seafoam or marvel mystery oil in the engine oil and see if it improves, hopefully it is and not piston rings, if it is in fact something internal.

good luck!!!

Old thread but I guess it still might help some one, In my case I changed all manner of sensors, plugs, wiring nothing changed things. I had checked for check engine codes but nothing ever came up. One day still with the same stumble problem the check engine light finally came on! It ended up being my mass airflow sensor! the damn thing never gave a code until I suppose it actually crapped out completely. and mind you this is over a damn year and a half trying to fix the problem. bought a replacement and five minutes later runs like a dream. Damn mass air flow could not believe it! It was the one sensor (b/c of the price) I had not replaced. Might be worth exploring for some, borrow one if possible and see what that does for you all.
