Default Missing Washer Fluid..anyone else?

Hello All,

Random issue popped up tonight. I noticed my washer fluid wasn't spraying earlier in the day (even though i heard the pump) so i figured i was out of fluid. So prior to hitting the highway for a 30min drive to my fav. snowmobiling spot, I threw close to 2 litres of washer fluid in the empty reservoir figuring i had used it all. 5min into my drive i attempted to use the spray, and got nothing, thinking the pump wasn't primed I got out just to be sure and found a BONE-DRY reservoir.

So that's roughly 1.75L lost in under 5min, that's gotta be a good size hole. But in my infinite wisdom i forgot a flashlight, and I couldn't see anything past the middle of the tank with the moonlight. I'll be able to work on her in the afternoon tomorrow, besides an obvious crack, has anyone had any issues regarding lost fluid (pump seal, line breaks)?

Hopefully somebody has had the same problem and knows a fix, and I won't find a giant crack in the bottom of my reservoir in the morning.

Thanks,

ym

these blazers are notorious for coming apart in the back Open your tail gate and pull the molding thats on the edge of the carpet at the back gate. There's a hole about center with a few connecters and wires in it if you lift the carpet up alittle u will see the hose running next to the wires center of the blazer anyways inside the hole there is a Z shaped junction and it pops off if need pics ill get some tommorow of location.

I hope this helps and that is where mine was leaking if you need a new one i have mine that im not using anymore.

It would be nice if you could add something(possibly some more windshield wiper fluid and put a catch underneath) and verify where the leak is(front or rear). My bet is the front due to how quick you say you lost it. As far as what it can beI had a 96 n the shop last week, ordered a new res. from GM($), upon doing the job..pulled it out, put the new one in and still leaked. It ended up being the PUMP. Hard to believe-never saw that b-4. Your issue is probably the tank(or not-hose could have come off the pump)-but fill it up either in the truck or out. If out put everything back in it(pumps seals/then fill-or pull it out in tact/then fill). Probably better trying just filling it and trying to see while it is still in-have to pull air cleaner box. Let us know! Good luck-Jerry[&o]

Yah to lose the fluid that quick it seems like it has to be the tank. Did you have the warmer weater stuff in an it got really cold out. I had this happen once when the alcohol wasnt concentraded enough so I got slush, luckly it didnt fully freeze on me. I think You should be able to feel the leak if you fill it up with some water and feel around. Hopefully it will be your pump like peru since they are fairly cheap.

thanks guys! i'm not sure if she froze or not, i have -45C fluid in it...but we got down pretty close to that, i think -42 was our lowest. unfortunately it was pouring rain today (we were -32 last week, and +6 today, damn screwy weather) so i didn't get a chance to figure it out today.....

thanks again for the suggestions!

Fixed!

It was the lower pump seal, the tank was intact. The seal had cracked into 3 pieces and was pouring out fluid. Replaced the whole pump (it was cheap at canadian tire).
