My 97 Jimmy needs a cat
anybody have any suggestions? I'm thinking about these:
320275515876 - magnaflow about $190
130238740080 - high flow about $170
anybody have a positive or negative experience with magnaflow?
thanks,
Scott

If it were me, I would purchase the name brand magnaflow. You can get cheaper universal ones as wolf stated above, but they require some cutting and welding for installation. That is not too bad for a direct bolt in.
thanks guys. wolfpack, if a had a welder, i night be interested in the one you suggested. Like Kyle said, it might require some fitting. I've been replacing parts on this thing for months and I'm tired of working on it. the thing rattles like crazy. i think I'll just get a bolt on. Air chissle the bolts off and bolt on the new one...
I seen on the internet this guy runs drywall screws into the floating pieces. I thought that was kind of funny. I might just try it for the heck of it.

Problem with most repair shops is that they do not use the proper stainless wire or the proper shielding gas for the welder. Welding stainless to stainless can work and be structural with common wire and C25, but it isn't a lasting repair due to corrosion.
That same $70 catalytic converter that you can buy online would cost you over $120 near me from an exhaust and/or repair shop. None of the local exhaust shops near me allow you to bring in your own parts and warranty it.
The bolt-in Magnaflow linked to above comes with a 5yr/50k mile warranty from Magnaflow and is fully stainless steel.
