i have a wiring harness thats behind the 4wd selector and rear wiper control area that isnt connected to anything. the harness has some red plastic on it and some factory tape around it that has the number 8180. i noticed it after i did a heater core change. i looked in my dads blazer and i dont see it. it might not belong there, it might have got moved from another location. everything seems to work as far as ive noticed. the harness does have some scratches on it like it was plugged in before.


Second question-I have the info center in my blazer that only has the temp and compass. i was wondering if i could get an info center from one that has the mpg and all that and just swap it out. are all the sensors there to send a signal to it and tell me that other info?

no idea on the mystery plug..

but as for the OHC...you can swap out the consoles themselves, but you will have to run 3 wires to get the new one to work. You need to tap into the VSS (vehicle speed sensor) in the dash, the Class 2 serial port (easiest is tapping the OBDII plug wire) and you'll need a extra power wire I believe...not sure on that 3rd one off the top of my head.

 

is the vss just a wire that goes to the speedometer? where is the OBDII? is that the diagnostic plug? which wire is the serial 2? where do those wires connect on the ohc. I compared mine that only has compass and temp to my dads which has everything. mine has 2 harness's going into it and my dads only has 1? mine i a 99 his is a 97/2001 salvage title, i think the ohc is probably from the 97, im not sure though
