New to here but have a question
I have a 95 Blazer and I have done alot of work to it previous owner just didnt take good care of and didnt know what they had. But I have replaced almost everything shy of the motor on my baby and runs really really well but the previous owner did some chop work to a/c which is the only area I am not familiar with when it comes to mechanics. I have wrong compressor and the wiring has been cut and rigged to achieve nothing since the air does not work. Is there any one that might be able to tell me if this will be worth me going in and replacing the compressor myself and rewiring the a/c I have the wiring diagram from dealership for a/c and local shop told me they would charge me 950.00 plus labor and cost of coolant but I am sure I am getting taken for a ride since I had it there before to be looked at and they said the unit was fine and holding a charge when they charged it to check for leaks and they didnt notice it was the wrong compressor and that it did in deed have the top valve open and was leaking, charge lasted 10 min after leaving there and they charged me 60 to do that. The guy told me that it was the standard amount to do a/c. I have a local chevy dealer but they have to keep my baby for two days to do re-wire and instal but cant have baby down that long. Any advice or tips on getting done or where to get good a/c parts please share I would really appreciate it, wanting to do work myself but in stages if possible already went 8 mo no a/c a while longer wont kill me though florida is hot!!
