Default new here with an exhaust question

Today I was driving and heard what sounded like an exhaust leak. I lost some power to the vehicle which I heard was normal if the exhaust were to leak. When I got home I turned the truck off and popped the hood. I noticed some smoke coming off the part in the picture I've posted and can't figure out what it is or if it is my problem. If you have any ideas please let me know. The truck is an 02 blazer. Thank you for your time and any help is much appreciated.

Do a search on this site:it will lead you to the problem. This is part of the EGR system and any fault will result in exhaust noise and power loss, you most likely have an SES light as well, yes? Do your research. Best wishes.

It was actually the rubber hose that comes off of that. It had a hole in it.now trying to figure out why GM put rubber on a part that gets hot.

that is in fact the one way check valve for the emmisions air pump, the point of it is it is supposed to let air into the exhaust, but no exhaust into the air... if that makes sense to you. if you get exhaust into the air pump it will lock up and... lets just say thats bad. being that you blew the rubber hose off of it and now it is leaking exhaust it's no longer a check valve and needs to be replaced. there is rubber on the one side because it is not deigned to get hot or to flow exhaust, it is only designed to flow air until after the valve.
