Default New Jasper Engine, high oil pressure

Hey guys. Finally finished a six month process of putting in a new Jasper motor and rebuilding my tranny with a Monster SS package (I'm in school and working - not a lot of free time). Anyway, read through an old thread and figured out I had the distributor 180* off (thank you Kyle) got that fixed today and it finally fired right up! But it's running high oil pressure, gauge almost all the way up. I only ran it for about ten seconds and then shut it off because of that. Is that normal for a new car firing up (maybe it's pressurizing the lines?) or is something wrong?

Thanks.

Thanks. So I shouldn't worry about it and drive it?

As quik said, it is normal for a new motor to show higher than normal oil pressures. If it sounds normal, I don't think I would worry too much about it.

One question I have is did you verify that the gauge is reading properly by hooking up a mechanical gauge to it? The factory gauge isn't a linear transition and really isn't all that accurate to boot.
