Default New spider bad?

So, last weekend I replaced my spider, and fuel pump. (Long story, turns out the fuel pump was bad, but since the pump was only a few months old (delphi) I ASSumed spider.)

The fuel pump holds pressure, checked that at the fuel filter when i installed it. It ran much better than before, but seemed a little rich at idle, and just didn't seem right. Had a random misfire code yesterday.

Checked pressure at the port today, pump running is ~57, as soon as it stops, drops to 30, and slowly keeps going down. No visible leaks from the lines.

Anyone ever had a brand new (remanufactured) spider be bad right outta the box?

Lots of them are defective. Have you considered the true MFI conversion spider. Supposed to be better, but some of them have also reported defective new ones.

I don't know much about the conversions. I was under the impression that I couldn't do it with my '95. If you could point my in the right direction, I would love to do that, when, not if this one craps the bed.

Based on this website, the conversion to the 2002-2007 fuel injection unit is only is applicable to 96 and up.

Yes , it's 96 up. I didn't see 95 mentioned in the original post and thought it was probably a later model. Very few 95's left and most folks avoid them because of the messed up OBD 1.5 that year had.

Yeah, I've come to realize that 95 is kinda a weird year. I've been lucky, and hadn't had much trouble with mine, other than getting really good at changing fuel pumps and injectors.

I think mine must be a later model 95, seems to be fully OBD II. ECU is in the right place, and both my OBD II code scanners work on it.
