I have a 99 blazer and it has no heat. I have replaced the radiator, the water pump, thermostat and radiator cap. It has also been flushed like 4 times. After it was flushed each time, id have heat for a few minutes but then it'd go cold again. Dosent over heat but after I park it, you can smell antifreeze a little bit. Any ideas? Heater core?

 

Heater core being clogged is my thoughts, hot hot are the hoses going and coming from it?

 

I'm actually not sure, I didnt check them. It was flushed a few times, Luke warm air comes out for a few minutes, but then gets ice cold again.

 

If you get the truck running to temperature, you can feel the two hoses going to the firewall for the heater core, they should be of equal temperature or damn near atleast, if you feel one is colder then the other, then there sis blockage in the core.

I was able to flush my blazer and use it, butit moms jimmy had to get replaced, no matter how many times it got flushed, it clogged within days again...

Check the hoses and let us know...

 

Just went through this myself. It's a shame you threw all those parts at it for nothing. I got some hose and back flushed my core and it works like a charm now. A garden hose with the end cut off made for a nice fit on the outlet side of the core. I didn't have the right size hose for the other side but I had some bigger hose that slid on the tubing and took the water away from the engine. I fed it into a bucket so I could see what came out and a couple of globs of something and some black water came out at first. I figured that buildup must have blown apart and made the water dirty. I second the above, get the truck warm and feel the radiator and heater core hoses for heat, they should all be hot.

 

As suggested, mild garden hose pressure through the core in both directions. Another possibility is an improperly bled system which allows air to get trapped in the core. Does it gurgle?
