Default no reverse??wtf..

hay guys, got a 97 4x4 blazer that will not go in reverse. reverse lights come on and i can feel it initiate, but no go..feels like drive train's locking up or something. check engine light came on so we put it on a computer for codes. sed to replace shift solenoid #2, so replaced both just in case..shifts grate in drive, 4x4 lo and hi , but still no reverse..could this be a mechanical transfer case issue or a possibly vacuum line from the transfer case, i noticed the "atmosphere" line wus caped..this is my only means of transportation so it's super important that i get it fixed..thanx dudes

Are you sure that you have all 4 forward gears? If you only have 1st and 3rd, then the problem is likely your reaction sun shell. If you have all four forward gears, then the problem is likely with the reverse input clutches and/or the low/reverse clutch pack. Neither of which has a function in forward gears.

did some digging on the net and came to the conclusion that it's the sun shell..unfortunately this is a common problem with these transmissions, also the low/reverse clutch pack mentioned above only apply s to manual trans right?? (forgot to mention that i have automatic) don't have the money to put it in the shop, would like to do the work myself, however once the trany's droped would it be a good idea to replace additional parts?? only want to do it once...thanx so mutch

Nope, clutch packs are in automatics.
