noises when accelerating & turning
So I still havent had a chance to get the wheels off to take a look at the rear rotors. However it snowed here today, really slushy mess. What I noticed is while driving when I drive through some slush (like 2-3 inches) I get the same noise/vibration as when Im accelerating and turning on dry ground. Im probably just gonna take it to a shop sometime soon, I know of one thatll look at it for free. Im thinking something with the drive shaft where it meets the rear diff?
So I went 4x4ing the other day and noticed that from a dead stop in 4 Low that the noise would happen. So I wondered if standing on the brakes while hitting the gas would create the same effect as accelerating (like a brake stand) and it did! So hopped out and had my girlfriend do the brakes and gas while I listened outside the truck. Hmmmm seams like the noise is coming from the front bumper, had her pop the hood then tap the gas a bit. Anyone one wanna guess???? Busted motor mount and the fan was hitting the shroud. Musta been from when I pulled a ford explorer out of a little puddle LOL. So last night I grabbed the engine hoist and all the tools for the fix, and OMG it was the biggest pain in the a$$ for the simplest thing. Turns out that both mounts were busted, and that I shoulda just gotten a shop to do it LOL. I bought the truck from a dealer and have a warranty on it for another 18 months, but I was like Ive got nothing to do today meh Ill do it. Figuring that I got both mounts for $50 I thought I just sved myself $40 and Ill learn a bit more about my vehicle, well if the mounts go agian Im dropping the $90 deductable and sitting at a shop LMAO. My brother and I both think the setup of the mounts being so close to the manifold is what caused the mounts to fail, and that its the dumbest setup that hes seen LOL.
lol well thats good u figured it out on ur own. doesnt it feel good!!! haha and besides u dont have to pay the shop the labor so u save urself some money! haha just lookin on the brightside of things
